ATARI LYNX

The Atari Lynx was the best of all the hand-held consoles of it's era. The games not too bad. It keeps all the original items and enemies along with their original score values. It's a good effort although it's not arcade perfect. For one, the playing area is too small for my liking and as you can see from the screenshots the colours aren't too acurate either. There's four powers in the game but they do different things than the arcade ones. For example the Star power does what the Sun power was suppost to. The rounds are very similiar to the arcade but not exact in lay-out and only go up to 23.

There's two main problems I have with it. The first is that the sound fx and music are...well...dire! The music for the temple is sad, it sounds badly out of tune and high pitched. The second is the same problem as the Spectrum version in that the enemies are far too slow making it unchallenging.

Tips & Cheats:

1) Floating Shield Trick. Throw the shield in front of you, then restart the game with Option 1 and Pause. When you restart the game, your shield will be floating in front of you. As soon as you fire, your shield returns to normal.
2) Even though your powers are not displayed on the final round, you still have them, unless you die.
3) Killing the Dominator. Jump up and shoot him in the face and he will flicker. He takes about 20 shots to kill.
4) The powers in the game use the same gfx as the arcade version but they do different things:
Crown Doubles your scoring.
Star Vertical firing.
Tiger Destroy enemies by jumping on them.
Sun Firepower and extra range.
5) If you destroy the Cave Bat it doesn't re-appear. This makes climbing the ropes easier as there's none of those long-tounged lizards!
